run os command in pg_regress?

In my case, I want to sleep 3 seconds in xxx.sql for pg_regress program.
but I don't want to run 'select pg_sleep(3)' . so it is possible for
pg_regress?

in psql, I can run \! sleep(3); exit;

but looks pg_regress doesn't support it.
