Hello List,

When an initdb is done where do the default postgresql.conf and pg_hba.conf come from? Are they
copied from some template file?

They are copied from the share subdirectory. For example, in Debian,
it's in:
/usr/share/postgresql/<major version number>/postgresql.conf.sample

And initdb customize them.
