I need a Postgres Admin $130K + 20K in NYC Any Ideas?

keep in mind that a studio *starts* at 2500/month this doesnt include parking which is ANOTHER 250-500/month ..taxis are a min of 20$ to go 1 block..meals are a min of 50$/per

you could actually be *losing money* on this one guys

(and these things can be high in NYC), at least a couple of your
figures are quite exaggerated: taxi fares are fixed at $2.50 + $0.40/

lets assume you never take a cab anywhere and you pack enough PB&J for a week
so we dont have to argue with Ed Koch
anyone that has lived in NY knows you need 2500/month for any decent studio apt
Also you need first,last and security to get the apt

I've been ignoring this until now, but as a list member I have to say it
is very embarrassing to see this kind of thread on a list as respectable
as PostgreSQL General.

Threatening lawsuits over a disagreement on the cost of living
somewhere? Seriously now, grow up. This whole discussion has nothing to
do with PostgreSQL and should go off list, or better still, just go away.

As someone who lives in NYC and has for a good 15 years now, your numbers are
way off.

While rent here is quite expensive, not everyone is stupid and plunks down
$2500 for a studio (it can be done in nice buildings). Most people pay maybe
$1500 for a decent studio (less if you want not-so-nice), $2500 for a good
1br, etc. If you’re willing to commute from the outer boroughs, NJ or upstate
(from 30 to 60 min by train) rents can be substantially lower.

NYC is not for everyone, but many people love it here. I certainly do. It’s
not for those who just want a 9-5 job and a quiet life, but if you want
opportunity and action NYC is it. God, I sound like an advert.
