EGCS becomes GCC
Hello!
Long awaited rumor that EGCS will become GCC someday... Finally it
happened. RMS announces it: http://lwn.net/daily/gcc.html
Is Postgres rady to EGCS, I wonder? I remember people had some troubles
with EGCS. Anyone using EGCS now?
Oleg.

I'm testing EGCS 1.1.2 on HPUX 10.20 and 11.00. I'll let you know what I find
out. (To much to do ... too little time :()

I'm using egcs on FreeBSD 2.2.x, 3.x and Solaris x86.
IMHO, It's quite better than gcc 2.[78].x

I'm using egcs over a year and only one time I had a problem with compiling
early cvs postgres 6.5. But I suspect it was a egcs problem and after
upgrading to new snashot of egcs I never get a problem. Right now I use
1.1.2 release under linux x86 and postgres (6.4.2, 6.5cvs) without
any problem.

I'm using it for quite some time without a problem. Version: 1.1.2/2.91.66
on Linux 2.2.6.
