6.5 cvs ERROR: copyObject: don't know how to copy 604
Today, I tried cvs version of 6.5 and got following:
c_flats=> explain select station_id from metro_stations except select metro_id from work_flats;
ERROR: copyObject: don't know how to copy 604
c_flats=> select station_id from metro_stations except select metro_id from work_flats;
station_id

Explain fails while select works (didn't check the result though)

This looks to be another artifact of the fact that EXPLAIN
doesn't invoke the rewriter.
It looks to me like the rewrite-invocation section of
pg_parse_and_plan() needs to be pulled out as a subroutine
so that explain.c can invoke it. Comments? Where should
the new subroutine go? (Probably not in postgres.c...)

It was; but I fixed it yesterday. At least it seems to work now.

Can't check this, because of problem to compile cvs:
make[2]: Entering directory /home/postgres/cvs/pgsql/src/lextest'
flex scan.l
gcc -c lex.yy.c
lex.yy.c: In function nput':
lex.yy.c:1046: parse error before )'
lex.yy.c:243: warning: y_flex_realloc' declared tatic' but never defined
lex.yy.c:273: warning: y_fatal_error' declared tatic' but never defined
make[2]: *** [lextest] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory /home/postgres/cvs/pgsql/src/lextest'
Will test after somebody fix cvs :-)
mira:~/cvs/pgsql/src$ flex --version
flex version 2.5.4

Oleg

No one is playing with lextest, I hope. Perhaps it is something there?

After compilation of current cvs at home I test this and it works.
But explain shows that select will not use indices, which exists !
select station_id from metro_stations except select metro_id from work_flats;

Indexes aren't much use if you don't have a WHERE restriction, no?
