newbie question

Hi all

A very simple question I hope !

I installed postgreSQL 6.3 and on starting it "postmaster -i", I get:

genx:/home/postgres:postgres> FATAL: StreamServerPort: bind() failed:
errno=98
Is another postmaster already running on that port?
If not, wait a few seconds and retry.
postmaster: cannot create INET stream port

I've checked that there isn't another copy of postmaster running. I also
checked /tmp/ for any postgres files but none there. Does anyone know
what may be the problem here.

I'm running Linux RH4.2 with 2.0.30 kernel.
