Is there official documentation on starting Postmaster as a service?

I had a look at various pages describing how to start postgres.exe as
a service (NT 4.0) but most seem to refer to older PostgreSQL releases
and there was a proposal put forward a few months ago to wrap
postgres.exe in something that would run as a service. Is there a
correct way documented for 7.1.1 or a plan to implement something
formal over the next few months?

If something is in the testing stage, I am happy to test and
contribute to documentation.
