A few weeks ago there was lots of messages about a port to WinNT of postgres 6.4.
Is this still the case and will it be available for download? If not..is there
any time frame when it will be.
Thanks
Chris

I'm sorry if this question is answered somewhere, but does 6.4
require C++? My main database boy doesn't have a C++ compiler, and I

This does not require C++ to compile, nor do I suspect it ever
will...I couldn't imagine the effort to go through to actually convert it
over to C++ :)

I tried a beta yesterday, and it compiled on 0/2 of the machines I
tried (NetBSD and IRIX). I'm really hoping this new version might fix
some of the instability issues I had with 6.3.2 in production.

Please report any compile errors to pgsql-hackers ... it has been
tested on NetBSD, but I don't believe Irix has been tested...

// 6.4 includes a pg_upgrade utility, that will allow upgrading without a
// dump/reload for 6.3.* users.

The only report that comes to mind is one person saying that they
successfully compiled it out of the box, no changes to PostgreSQL sources,
usin gthe Cygwin stuff. He had to modify the cygwin setup slightly (add a
header file or two, I believe?), but other then that, compiled and ran out
of the box...

Thanks

See the FAQ on the web site. The url points to a patch that needs to be
updated, because the pg_version change is no longer needed. He may have
already fixed that. I don't know.

Ummmm..let me rephrase the question. Will the WinNT port be distributed from the postgres site as
other versions are? Since you only need to compile it once since NT is NT....I was hoping that
someone would be maintaining it and updating the FTP site? Any comments?
Thanks

If someone wishes to take responsibility for it, and maintain the binary,
I have no problems including it both on the CD and in the FTP site...
