Q's: discussion group; pgsql authorization

Hi !

At first - if anyone knows - I'd like to know how & where to access the
Postgresql discussion group (if exists)...

My second question: How can I allow users in PgSQL to change their (and
*only* their) password? (I have already tried to make a rule on
pg_shadow & restrict access by updating through a view, but neither of
them worked correctly (or at all)! I always found some security hole...)

Thanks, in advance:
Peter Blazso

Ummm...no news group exists that I know of...whis there was one. Easier
than this mailing list.
To restrict users from accessing other accounts just make them type in their
old password before you ask for the new... I am not sure if this is the
answer to your question as it is kinda obvious...not trying to insukt your
intelligence or anything :)

It is propogated, but not necessarily by all sites. There are some sites
that offer open access to them, of which we used to be one, but due to
changes in news software, have yet to get it to work :(

Its uni-directional, though, and not necessarily read by any of the
developers as a result...

I don't know about everyones else, but I prefer a newsgroup style over the
mailing lists...
And even better if you can get Dejanews to archive it...
The comp.databases.postgres don't get replicated with my ISP and as I
understand it the newsgroups are read only anyways.

The newsgroups are uni-directional...they go from mail to news, but not
vice-versa. If your ISP doesn't receive them (and wants to), have them
contact me to setup a cross-feed for those groups...
