how to start postgresql server ( or postmaster ) automatically
I have installed the postgresql in a Linux 6.2 machine. Everything
seems to be working. However, after rebooting the system, I have to
manually start the postmaster.
I found that there is postgresql under /etc/rc.d/init.d.
How can I set up the machine so that it will automatically restart
postmaster after reboot?
Thanks
I use RH 7, but i think it will be the same in 6.2
run linuxconf, go to tab "Control", within "Control panel" open "Control
service activity". In the list click on postgres. Check "Startup
automatic", open tab "Run levels" and check proper levels. i.e. i'm
always using level 5 (Graphical interface), so i check "Level 5". You
can check Levels 2 and 3 too.

chkconfig --level 35 postgresql on
or use the setup utility ...;-)
