Hi List

How do I change the locale in the database?
I've tried to set the LANG environment variable before starting the
database but it still sorts it the english way.

Any ideas?

Jacob

You can't change it; it's set for the life of all databases.

Use pg_dumpall to save all data.
Destroy all databases and $PGDATA itself.
Set and export the desired locale in LANG.
Use initdb to recreate $PGDATA; then restore the dumped databases.
