PostgreSQL for Windows, without Cygwin
Greetings,
Does anyone know some project/url about Windows porting of PostgreSQL, without Cygwin? I found a group that say they'd compiled a Windows release from original source code, but once their release isn't free, I would like to know if there are some free/GPL working on the net.
Best regards.

There is no native PostgreSQL for Windows available to date and will never be
(according to the Hacker list). One way or another, you need Cygwin installed.
It is theoriticaly possibility to link Cygwin statictly during PostgreSQL
compilation under Windows. This has been done before with other Cygwin
products. Unfortunately, this was never done with PostgreSQL.

Do you have an URL or something where I can find out about the group you
mention?
Sure, I sent an email to them asking about their PostgreSQL for Windows.
Here is the answer :
"A verso Windows do dbExperts PostgreSQL foi desenvolvida a partir do fonte
original da verso de Linux na verso atual 7.1.3 as bibliotecas necessrias
foram recompiladas junto com o fonte. Existe total compatibilidade entre as
verses Windows e Linux do dbExperts PostgreSQL." (dbExperts)
Translation :
The bdExperts PostgreSQL for Windows was developed from original Linux
source code of PostgreSQL 7.1.3. In the actual version, the libraries
needed were compiled with the source. There are full compatibility between
both Windows and Linux bdExperts PostgreSQL.
URL : www.dbexperts.com.br (portuguese - I couldn't find an english version,
maybe you could email them)
I hope this can help you.

I'm looking for a good windows solution to, so I can put some
information about it on the techdocs.postgresql.org site. There doesn't
seem to be much good information about non-cygwin versions around at
present. :(Regards and best wishes,
