Setting up the pgReplicator: nightmare in the dark

After I've set up replication with mySQL
<URL:http://www.mysql.com/doc/R/e/Replication.html> with great
success, I tried the same with PostgreSQL. rServ does not do what I
want (I need several slaves, and on different machines), so I tried
pgReplicator.

Since it was not obvious (contender for the understatement of the
year) to do it on my Debian box, I took the liberty to write a
mini-HOWTO for the first part of the installation (before the actual
setup of the replication). If you have comments or fixes (or any news
of a better replication system for PostgreSQL), you're welcome.
