Can anyone recommend a free GUI DB design tool for Windows I could use
to model my database design? (something similar to the design tool in MS
access).

I don't need it to actually connect to a DB or create a DB. Just need it
to help me draw pretty pictures and visualize what my DB will look like.
If it can recognize pgsql data types even better.

I use tools from www.datanamic.com.
And i think it's a good compromise entre features (generate toward
many databases) and cost.
You can look also http://www.win-design.com/ and Power AMC from
Sybase.
but it's a ratio like 1 to 6 or 8 !!!

Re: DB GUI design tool?

Try PG Explorer.

It has a GUI Query designer that generates the SQL and a way to easily
browse the data or view the results of your query.

I recommend Vertabelo - http://www.vertabelo.com. It’s an online
database designer working under Chrome. It is free to use for smaller
projects and have commercial version for larger.
