Column number 4 is out of range 0..3 ?

I just got this message for all the records returned by "select * from
table", what does this mean?
(I don't have any restriction on the values in column 4...)

Well, never mind.. This seems to be coming from my postgresql client and
not from the server itself.... (I just updated my client...)
