Need help on translating documentation
I am working on translating PostgreSQL 13 documentation to Japanese
and having a problem with catalogs.sgml. Due to major format change in
13, the number of places need to translate in 13 is large.
12:
<row>
<entry><structfield>aggnumdirectargs</structfield></entry>
<entry><type>int2</type></entry>
<entry></entry>
<entry>Number of direct (non-aggregated) arguments of an ordered-set or
hypothetical-set aggregate, counting a variadic array as one argument.
If equal to <structfield>pronargs</structfield>, the aggregate must be variadic
and the variadic array describes the aggregated arguments as well as
the final direct arguments.
Always zero for normal aggregates.</entry>
</row>
13:
<row>
<entry role="catalog_table_entry"><para role="column_definition">
<structfield>aggnumdirectargs</structfield> <type>int2</type>
</para>
<para>

hypothetical-set aggregate, counting a variadic array as one argument.

the final direct arguments.

</para></entry>
</row>
It looks like in many places the description part of the document are
same in 12 and 13. Since we already have translated 12 documents, I
wonder if there's a (semi) automated way to reuse the 12 Japanese
translation for 13 doc. I want to avoid manual cut&paste work.
Any suggestions are welcome.

While I was working on those table changes, I had some occasions
to want to do that sort of thing. I found that it was possible
to do it mechanically using XML tools. Unfortunately I did not
save my scripts, and they were just hacks anyway ;-). But you
might be able to get somewhere with that hint.

Thanks for the info. I will try the direction. Actually I expected
there are something like auto-generate-from-template systems to create
catalogs.sgml.
Best regards,
